When connecting the printer with a network, it becomes essential to know the IP address of your printer. Otherwise, it would be difficult to resolve the common troubleshooting problems. How to Find a Printer IP Address on Mac

To find the IP address of your printer on Macbook Air, you need to consider the two ways.

  • Find the address under the ‘System Preferences.’
  • Use the CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) to find the address as it is an open-source printing system suitable for Unix and iOS devices.

Steps to Find IP Address on Mac from System Preferences

  • Navigate to the upper-left corner of your Macbook Air and click on the ‘Apple’ logo.
  • Choose and open the ‘System Preferences’ and click on the ‘Printers and Scanners’ option.
  • If the user has connected more than one printer, a list of all connected printers will appear in which you need to double-click on the printer name to find the IP address.
  • Right-click on it and choose the ‘Print and Scan’ option; the dialogue box may open.
  • Under the ‘Options and Supplies,’ you can find the section with the options ‘Location, Kind and Status to check the numbers in front of ‘Location’ which is the IP address of your printer.

Steps to Find an IP Printer’s IP Address Using CUPS

  • Open the ‘Applications’ on your Mac and choose the ‘Utilities’ Option to open it.
  • After that, you can see the ‘Terminal’ folder and double-tap on this to open it.
  • Type ‘Webinterface=yes’ and press the Enter button.
  • This will make the ‘CUPS’ interface available.
  • Open the Safari browser and type ‘localhost:631/printers’ in the search box/bar and press the Enter button.
  • You can check your Printer’s IP address under the ‘Location’ column.

  • Start the Windows operating system to open the folder of the Control Panel.
  • Search and Open the ‘Devices and Printers’ option.
  • Select your printer name and right-click on it to open the ‘properties’.
  • In the dialogue box, open the ‘Web Services’ and in this option, you can find two tabs: Device information and troubleshooting information.
  • Check the details under the ‘Troubleshooting Information’ tabs. Here you can locate the IP address of the printer.

Steps to Find IP Address from Router in HP Printer

  • Start your computer’s operating system and open an internet browser.
  • Type the local IP address of your router in the search tab and press the Enter button.
  • Enter your valid email address and password.
  • A dialogue window will appear with the important information under the ‘Devices connected to the Network’ section that you need to follow in your HP printer to locate the IP address.

  • Turn on your device and add your printer to the Chromebook
  • Open the settings tab and go with the ‘Advanced’ setting.
  • Select the option to ‘Save the available printers’ from the ‘Printers’ menu.
  • Under the section of the ‘Saved Printers’ list, you can find your printer on the top.
  • Right-click on the printer name to select the ‘Set Up’ option.

Steps to Find IP Address on HP Printer

  • Long press your HP machine’s ‘Power’ button to turn on the machine.
  • Click the ‘Menu’ on the menu screen and hit the ‘Enter’ button.
  • Use the navigation buttons to hit the ‘networking’ tab and ‘network setup’ tab.
  • Hit the ‘Enter’ button and reach the ‘TCP/IP’ option with arrows.
  • When you open the dialogue box, you will read the information about your IP address, such as your network status and WiFi status. The hardware address will be given in front of the IP Address.

Find the Printer’s IP Address Using the Command Prompt

  • Start your Windows operating system by hitting the ‘Windows’ key on the keyboard.
  • Type ‘CMD’ in the search bar and press the ‘Enter’ Key.
  • You may see the ‘Command Prompt’ will automatically open. Now, you need to write/type ‘netstat-r’ in the blank space and hit the ‘Enter’ key.
